Trim Levels (Exterior)
There are five different trims levels available for the GMC Sierra 2500HD: Sierra, SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali. These heavyweight trucks are available in a variety of body styles so that you can choose the perfect one for your job. You can select a regular, double, or crew cab for your Sierra or SLE. The regular cab pairs with a long bed. The double cab and crew cab versions give you the option between a standard bed or a long bed.
The SLT lets you choose between the double cab or crew cab, while AT4 and Denali owners enjoy a crew cab with a choice on bed length. Access the bed of your truck using the standard side bed step that lets you safely reach items. There is also a corner stop built into the back bumper of each truck.
Engine (Power)
The standard engine for each truck is a powerful 6.6-liter V-8 block. It generates a hefty 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque using variable valve timing. It has a 36-gallon fuel tank that requires regular unleaded gas. The engine pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission to give you a smooth ride on pavement or off-road.
If you prefer a diesel engine, there is the option of using a 6.6.-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine. This powerful block generates 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. It works with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine also comes with an engine block heater.
Performance
In terms of performance, the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD is ready to work. The Sierra, SLE, and SLT can tow up to 35,500 pounds with the proper equipment. They handle a maximum payload of 7,442 pounds. If you go with the AT4, you can haul 21,300 pounds with a maximum payload of 4,398 pounds. Denali owners can handle 31,180 pounds when towing and a payload of 6,610 pounds.
Interior
The interior of of this heavy-duty pickup will keep you comfortable on the job. You can keep an eye on critical information using the head-up display. It puts your speed, gas mileage, and warnings on the bottom of your windshield. The AT4 gives you the chance to check 15 different cameras to ensure your load is safe and let you know what is around you at all times. If you live in a colder climate, you'll enjoy the Denali's heated seats and steering wheel.
You can add the available ProGrade Trailering system with the in-vehicle app to monitor your trailer at all times. The app lets you create a profile for your trailer. It also gives you maintenance reminders and a step-by-step checklist before you leave.
