Power

The Sierra 3500HD has a standard 6.6L V8 gas engine producing 401 horsepower at 5200 rpm. It generates 464 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. For increased towing, an available 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine produces 470 horsepower at 2800 rpm. It delivers 975 lb.-ft. of torque at 1600 rpm. This engine provides a maximum towing capacity of 36,000 pounds.

Both Sierra 3500 engines are paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission that’s electronically controlled with overdrive for smooth-shifting performance. This transmission includes Tow/Haul mode and auto-grade braking.

Exterior

The 3500 base trim comes with 18-inch all-terrain blackwall tires and silver wheels. The beltline moldings, door handles, and vertical trailering mirrors are all black, while the bumpers are chrome. The Sierra 3500 has a prominent chrome grille with flat black grille insert bars that give it a dominating appearance.

There are several convenient exterior features on the Sierra 3500, including the CornerStep rear bumper, cab-mounted cargo area lamps, and cargo tie-downs. The animated LED projector headlamps have integrated LED turn signals and daytime running lamps. Other notable exterior features include a manual locking tailgate, solar-absorbing glass windows, and a complete trailering package.

Interior

The Sierra 3500 features a 40/20/40 split front bench with an under-seat storage compartment. The 60/40 split back seat folds up on either side for extra floor cargo space. Assist handles are located at each door for convenience. A 6-speaker audio system ensures excellent sound quality. The manual tilt steering column allows easy adjustments when needed.

Additional cabin features in the Sierra 3500 include power windows, rear air vents, USB charging ports, and a 3.5-inch monochromatic driver information center. This displays your truck’s speed, fuel consumption, mileage, and engine warnings.

Technology

The 2025 Sierra 3500HD has a 7-inch color touchscreen GMC Infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. These features can be used to sync your phone to the truck for hands-free phone calls, texting, and more. There’s also an available subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio for endless music, sports, and news stations you can enjoy on every ride.

Safety

Trucks in the Sierra lineup come equipped with the Sierra HD Pro Safety package. Sierra HD Pro Safety contains Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Alert. Hitch Guidance, OnStar Basics, Rear Seat Reminder, and StabiliTrak are some of the other innovative safety features of the new Sierra 3500.
